Acquisition
AIB thoroughly explores each client’s aesthetic preferences and motivations to acquire and/or build upon an existing collection. Through personal consultations, we develop strategies to guide our clients through every aspect of the collecting process. Services include:
- Working with the client to determine his/her art requirements
- Robust analysis on a particular artist or market segment
- Researching international markets and sourcing suitable artworks at a fair market value
- Pre-sale viewing of lots on behalf of the client
- Due diligence on authenticity, attribution, provenance and condition
- Formal representation as a client’s buying agent in private transactions
- Price negotiation on behalf of the client in private sales
- Coordinating shipping, installation and storage
Consignment
AIB provides specialist services for the dispersal of collections and items for clients looking to sell whole collections or individual artworks. We understand the value drivers of a specific artwork and will advise on the exit route that is likely to generate the highest revenue. Services include:
- Coordinating the initial valuation of the collection and/or artwork
- Reviewing auction house and gallery proposals
- Negotiating the most advantageous terms and marketing strategies
- Managing packing and shipping in advance of photography and catalogue deadlines
- Analyzing pre-sale interest levels with auction house specialists
